Water is Wet, Sky is Blue, and Anthony Silva is Facing Fraud Charges Again. Supporters Blame Everyone Else
STOCKTON, CA - Former Stockton Mayor Anthony Silva is once again facing fraud charges. And in an even less surprising development, the community is rallying behind him, led by a veritable who's who of Stockton's political and media elite.
Mayor Christina Fugazi, Silva's former Vice Mayor and a woman who has stood by him through thick and thin, has once again pledged her unwavering support. "Anthony is a visionary," she declared. "He rewrote the book on used car salesman-style politics. He taught me everything I know." Former Stockton Councilman Ralph Lee White also came to Silva's defense. "Silva ain't no crook. Hell, I should know. I'm an expert on crooks."
Longtime friend Steve Colangelo, who has known Silva since their time together with the Boys and Girls Club (just before the Stockton chapter lost its charter for refusing a national audit), also rushed to his defense. "He's the victim of a vast conspiracy," Colangelo stated, his voice ringing with the authority of a man who knows a thing or two about fiscal mismanagement. "All these allegations of financial crimes just don't hold water." Colangelo, who had been appointed Stockton's Interim City Manager earlier this year thanks to a glowing recommendation from Silva himself, is considered an expert in the field of "creative accounting."
Silva then released this statement, "It's nothing more than political retaliation. I have been harrassed by George Soros, backed, San Joaquin County District Attorney Tori Verber Salazar." Silva continued in a desperate attempt to get a Presidential pardon, "I stand with President Donald J. Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi, and I have confidence that Interim U.S. Attorney Eric Grant will review these allegations fairly." It will be a shock for the Trump administration to learn that Soros never contributed to Tori Verber Salazar’s campaign. Probably because Soros doesn't donate to Republican candidates.
Then late yesterday, 209 Times CEO Motec Sanchez, penned a moving tribute to defend his criminal buddy Silva. Motec painted Silva as the victim of a relentless persecution by former DA Tori Verber Salazar. "The Feds say this was fraudulent because Silva pleaded no contest to a conflict of interest charge in 2019," Motec stated. "The conflict was discovered while he was on trial for multiple other allegations being charged by disgraced former District Attorney Tori Verber Salazar who claimed in multiple press conferences she had mountains of evidence against Silva for multiple crimes. Not a single one of her allegations turned out to be true and none of the crimes she originally charged him with turned into a conviction." Yes, Silva wasn't convicted on the other charges...because he took a plea deal.
Obviously, with this kind of community support, Silva is sure to get that presidential pardon. After all, in a world where anything is possible, why shouldn't a man with a rap sheet longer than a Frank Gayaldo questionnaire get a get-out-of-jail-free card?
